About This Photograph
The inaugural Curtis Cup Match, held at Wentworth Golf Club in England in 1932, was a veritable “who’s who” of women’s golf. Pictured here, from left to right, are Opal Hill (U.S.), Glenna Collett Vare (U.S.), Joyce Wethered (GB & I), and Wanda Morgan (GB & I). This foursomes match would prove a critical victory for the American team, who would go on to defeat Great Britain and Ireland, 5 ½ to 3 ½.
